Well, I was disappointed that we had to cancel our Student-Led Conferences this evening, but it was very nice to beat the rush hour traffic home in this slick and slushy weather. We will see all of our Thursday appointments next Thursday evening.
Tomorrow is our first new Reader's Workshop of the new quarter. We will initiate a new format with a class reading of an article and a written response to that article. The second response that students write will stem from each student's reading from the week. This is why it's so important for each student to do that daily reading assignment. RRJ's are no longer homework, but the reading continues to be so.
Today we took a mid-unit quiz on the first 10 words of unit 5. Students spelled their words and wrote beefy sentences filled with context clues. The quiz was worth 30 points and will post to PowerSchool asap.
