Today we reviewed some of our new vocabulary words. Students earned a 15 point particiption and preparation grade for simply having their vocab. notes in class today. Sadly several were not prepared and did not earn these easy points.

We have set up our LA binders to house everything we need for each class period. When students don't file their materials in that binder or when they don't bring the binder to class, they find themselves unprepared. This makes it difficult to continue the work we need to do.

Today students also participated in another sentence dictation exercise. We are using these to help us move into proofreading and editing mode for next week, the last week of drafting works for our portfolios.

Finally, we had a conversation about the topics and the possible audiences for our final work, a persuasive letter that we will mail to its recipient. Parents, I've asked students to provide a single postage stamp for this assignment; I will provide the envelopes.
