We had some powerful conversations and quite a few questions related to the documentaries we finished today. I am always surprised at the level of interest that middle school students show toward the American Civil Rights Movement, and it's a unit I enjoy exploring with them through literature and film. Again, extremely powerful.

Everyone should have his/her viewing guides for continued class discussions tomorrow. Students should also be prepared to start organizing their thoughts for their persuasive piece. I will introduce one final opportunity to read an anecdotal article related to that era, which will also help with the persuasive piece.
